New Stars to Shine as Michelin Guide Spain and Portugal 2023 comes to Toledo

The Michelin Guide Spain and Portugal 2023 arrives in Toledo in November for its annual gala presentation. This year’s venue is the Palacio de Congresos El Greco.

The Michelin Guide Spain and Portugal 2023 event reveals new Michelin stars, Bib Gourmands, and other awards to feature in the upcoming edition of the famous red book. Michelin stars are the ultimate badge of honour in the fine-dining world. As a result, the top chefs in Spain and beyond fear and revere the guide in equal measure.

As well as learning about the winners on November 22, guests can enjoy an evening of food. All cooked by the top chefs in the region. The event is an opportunity for Spain to showcase the amazing food the territory has to offer and the growing number of chefs of international renown.

This year’s gala offers a chance to put the region of Castilla La Mancha on the culinary radar. As a result, organisers invited many chefs from the region to cook at the event. This will highlight to, quality and diversity of gastronomy in the region.

Who is taking part in Michelin Guide Spain and Portugal 2023?

The gala will be hosted by journalist and TV presenter Berta Collado. So, the event should receive good exposure. The following chefs are lined up to cook at the event:

  • Iván Cerdeño: Restaurante Iván Cerdeño, Toledo (2 stars)
  • Fran Martínez: Restaurante Maralba, Almansa, Albacete (2 stars)
  • José Antonio Medina: Restaurante Coto de Quevedo, Torre de Juan Abad, Ciudad Real (1 star)
  • Miguel Ángel Expósito: Restaurante Retama, Torrenueva, Ciudad Real (1 star)
  • Pepe Rodríguez: Restaurante El Bohío, Illescas, Toledo (1 star)
  • Carlos Maldonado: Restaurante Raíces, Carlos Maldonado, Talavera de la Reina, Toledo (1 star)
  • Quique Pérez: Restaurante El Doncel, Sigüenza, Guadalajara (1 star)
  • Samuel Moreno: Restaurante El Molino de Alcuneza, Alcuneza (1 star)
  • Jesús Segura: Restaurante Trivio, Cuenca (1 star)

Prior to the gala, a debate will be held at the Parador de Sigüenza on November 7. The event is titled ‘La Sala tiene la palabra’ which translates as ‘The Chamber has the floor.’ Importantly, this means participants can share their wisdom an opinion with the room for debate. The event will feature many top professionals including the three-Michelin-starred Marián Martínez from the Cenador de Amos Restaurant and Marta Campillo from the Diverxo. They will be accompanied by leading businessmen, sommeliers, waiting staff and house managers from the world of gastronomy.
